Obituary for Martin Carey

MARTIN CAREY, age 81, passed away on December 20, 2017. Martin was born on September 30, 1936 in County Mayo, Ireland, to the late Martin and Bridget (nee Campbell) Carey. He was very proud of his Irish Heritage and a founding member of the Eastside Irish-American Club, where he was honored as member of the year in 2012, he was also a member of the Westside Irish-American Club. Martin worked as an Iron Worker with Local 17 for 40 years. He liked gardening, Happy Hour and friendships shared, but his true love was family.
He is the beloved husband of 48 years to Kathleen (nee McIntrye) Carey; loving father of Br. Louis Michael Carey, Patrick (Heather) Carey, Bridget (Brian Jackson) Carey-Jackson, James, and Brendan (Morgan); cherished grandfather of Cody, Nicholas, Martin, Elizabeth, Aidan, Cullan, and Declan; brother of Kathleen Hayes, Mary Carey (deceased), Anthony Carey (AKA Josie) (deceased); uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Ss. Robert and William Parish, 367 E 260th St, Euclid, OH 44132. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 PM at the Jakubs & Son Funeral Home, 936 E 185th St, Cleveland, OH 44119. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers Donations in Martin’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
